Good entry level road bike for about 500?

What is a good entry level road bike for about 500 dollars? I'm new to road bikes and don't want to dish over 1k for a Giant or Trek. I just want a durable one for about 500, just for regular commuting. I was looking at the Cadillac Electric Blue CTS

I wouldn't buy the Cadillac bike they are made by Kent and they are pretty much junk on the low end stuff. I bought a Denali and it lasted about 80 miles before the rear cassette broke. I got lucky and got the Schwinn Laguna Sport from Amazon for $256
