What kind of engine's fit in a 1974 dodge monaco?

I want to try and get the most fuel efficent engine possible
A 318 is the smallest v8 dodge makes that will move a big heavy car. Keep in mind gas was cheap in 74 no one cared about fuel mileage. Use a new carb if you can get one, this was the one weak link in chrysler setups the carb sucked.
